Actually, I can't see how it makes any difference, Derek. The weakest points in the joint are still the weakest points, i.e. the edges of the trails are what's going to give under tension. So it matters little if the tails are wide or narrow. Increasing the number of tails would increase joint strength, up to a point, but then you begin to run into pin size as a limiting factor. For maximum joint strength on a hard-working drawer, I like plenty of good-sized tails & fat pins, & save the dainty pins for dainty things....
