They are a knockoff of the Woodpeckers jobbies that I have, but at a much more sensible price. Looking down the bottom of that page, it looks like they specialise in all sorts of Woodpeckers knockoffs, including the burgundy coloured anodising.

Brett, I don't know who does the knocking off. The design has been around an awfully long time. The WP version is twice the price (at least).
These are about 1/2" shorter than the WP. I doubt that makes a difference. I'd like them to have the clamps that are now available at Carbatec (I might get some - do you know of others on sale?), but they are easy to use with a simple one-hand clamp.

Yeah, Woodpeckers aren't like those French buggers, eh Derek. :D
And if you're happy with engineering plastic (probably very satisfactory in most situations) you couldn't go past these - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...62396b11g5yVbO
I very nearly added a clamping square of this type to an order from a supplier several years ago. Glad I didn't, the market was flooded with similar items only a short time later and as we all know 'you just can't compete with the Chinese on postage costs for small items'. :~
That same store has the type of clamp you're looking for Derek in a range of different sizes, like these - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...7ec51e5eANTnrg. Could be worth looking around though, highly likely someone's got a special on them.
I find the biggest challenge in making stuff square is bothering to check after the frantic glueup.
Ever since i've planned my glueups and laid everything out, all i've needed is a tape measure to make sure all the corners are square and have never really had an issue.
Having said that clamping jigs do come in handy when you need an extra pair of hands to hold things together, however using "proper" joinery also minimises this need, for example I've been trying to avoid using butt joints for everything and using whatever i feel at the time is worth my effort whether that be finger joints, dado's rabbets etc.
Well, I own 2 of the black corner squares: https://www.carbatec.com.au/rockler-...ssembly-square and to match with that I own 4 of the clamps that go with it: https://www.carbatec.com.au/rockler-...l-fence-clamps
Because most folk (like me) will buy the clamps and square as a kit: https://www.carbatec.com.au/clamping...r-clamp-it-kit
It makes sense for them to at least offer the jig as an "add on" for those that bought the kit above.
In fact, I have actually stuck a couple of the jigs on my wish list as a result of this thread.
What about making your own squaring blocks like on this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_Wt5fkyP54
I've made 4 at 6" and 4 at 4", drilled holes in them so I can use fence clamps ( https://www.carbatec.com.au/workshop...mp-pair-w-foot or chinese knock offs) and/or standard quick clamps. Minimal cost
That's basically what I did using Plywood. They are a bit of a pain to use because they are too thin and making them thicker is a good idea. I find the hardest thing about making cabinets is getting the first two sides up and fastened so I use some of the plywood right angles to clamp the sides to a temporary base board and a nail gun to initially fasten them for stability.
Well, I had an offcut of 18mm ply, so I knocked up a few 'squares'. They are 89.7-89.8 degrees...! Hopefully near enough to get things together as I glue, with the back doing the last tweak. And I have a few of aldav's clamps.
I also picked up a sheet of MDF to make a test cabinet - figured if I mess up, it's only $35 down the gurgle-hole. Better than messing up on $100+ of beech ply.
If it all goes pear-shaped, then I'll spend some money one of the suggestions above. Still like the rocklers - just so nice and chunky. May also get some of those chinese sweatshop products with my next bangood purchase.

Well they arrived yesterday at my local PO and I picked them up today.
For the dollars I paid for them, I’m happy with with them. Mainly bought them so I can tack steel frames together, they’re not spot on square but it’s very close and I reckon if you clamp it lightly first, you’ll be able to cancel it out.
And for those wondering about different thicknesses, it works very well.
