    Default Steps off back deck

    Hi guys,

I want to build some steps off of my back deck to the ground. The pics probably explain it best but I'm wondering if I'm better off getting some metal stringers made for the steps?

I'd like the use the same decking timber for the stairs but wondering if it's too thin....If so, what should I use given that I want to finish it in the merbau decking?

    Thanks

I'd use stringers using H4 pine sleepers
go to Builders Construction Calculators - Contractors, Tradies and DIY
the decking is fine to use as risers and runs as long as you have enough stringers to support
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs .

I was faced with a similar prolem many years ago with a house I built. I went for 3 striners (metal) and used the decking timber. Worked a treat.

I would go for metal stringers, much easier to work with than timber.
