Ah just home, been a long day. As well as playing with this thing I am trying to intergrate another half a ton of tools into my rather confined little workshop. I am decommissioning my site trailer from when I used to do a lot of site work it was full of a second/third set of tools so now I am puting a set aside for my youngest son who may in a year or two do a building apprenticship and the rest I am intergrating into my current set of working tools.
Anyway back to the Cocktail table.
Shot 1, Mild steel rivet ready to go, drill your hole countersink a little, drop your rivet in and while holding over a suitable piece of trolly line or an anvil if you have one burr the head over a little, flip it over and do the other side and then come back and finish the fist side. Use a ball pein hammer if you have one, if not anyold hammer will do)
Shot 2, the finished rivet, I cut the rivet blank from an old bit of rod off a gate lock. Cut your rivets about 1/8" longer 3mm on each end or from apprentice days 1/2 the radius of the rivet (maybe)
Shot 3, setting out and tacking up all the bits.
    Shot 4, one ready
Shot 5, cross brace, scoloped out the centre so you don't see from the skiny waist on the Mango slab.
Shot 6, tacked up (wrongly) note the flange on the outside luckily picked it up then.
Shot 7&8 with a coat of black hammer finish. I didn't paint the lasts with the black, I cleaned them up and sprayed them with matt estapol.

It all looks a bit too perfect at the moment so I may have to scruff it up a bit tomorrow.
The springs are still very springy and you can grab the leg and bend it out or in etc.
I put a round bar brace on the flat bar legs to take any wobble out and it now sits sweat.
Tomorrow I will get back onto the mango and finish sanding and get some finish on it.

Measurements, ahhh yep, the mango slab is not quite as tall as me so its about 5'8" and it would be about 30" wide at the pointy bits. It stands about 16" high.
The ladies shoe size would be about a, I don't know, bIudy tiny, even the bigger one is tiny.

Wendy, have you come out from behind the lounge? you'll get cramps hiding down there

CH, I can see where you are heading. You soon will be calling yourself a designer or an artist. You will have to add another 0 to the price of your work. Now that is scary.

    CH

    Looking sweet

I wondered whether you were going to put a bit of pipe or something inside the springs

I karate there is a straddle stance (if I remember correctly) that it reminds me of.

Good to see multi purpose furniture. After you have finished your coffee, you can turn it upside down and fix everyone’s shoes.

Ta darrrr , done! got the top sanded and the first coats of oil on. Still a few coats to go
but it's now all in one piece. Did a basic danish oil mix looking at more ecconomical options while still getting a good finish. This mix is just 1/3 Feast Watson Satin Floor Finish and 2/3 boiled linseed oil. If I can cut down the amount of tung oil and poly in the mix and still get a good fast nice finish I will also save some dollars. Boiled linseed is only about $9.50/ltr so much cheaper than poly at about $20/ltr (will have to check the price of the tung oil I use, I bought 10lts for about $110, 3years ago). This one has a Greta Garbo post card on the underside.
Will get some better pics once I get it out of the workshop, oops studio

It's come up a trick. The oil has brought some real nice colour in there.
