Mark an excellent WiP as usual.
The finish looks much better than the wet look.
I see they now require a further number of chairs hope you gave them Wongo's number.

Thanks guys it was a pleasing result and another happy customer, can't ask for more than that.
Now a little more work on the home front and then into the pieces for the art exhibition in August.
I'll pop through a few workshop shots in the next day or two

Great work Mark. Really sits well in its location.

THanks guys, Scally I often (mostly ) put things/items/embelishments on the underside of my furniture pieces. Knives, spoons, forks, pennys, antique post cards, all sorts of things. Most people have kids, grandkids etc that hang out under the table, some people have lucky table places. So far everyone has loved it. I don't always tell people about it untill they have the furniture. Just a bit of fun

Hi Mark I like the way you did the legs and love the myrtle. Wondering why you doweled the frame to the legs and not do a mortise and tenon join. I always thought that dowels couldn't be relied upon for high stress joins?

Hi JJ
The legs were only 30mm thick so I thought rather than the thin mortise and tenon I would just dowel them. Four dowels (cut my own from long stock at about 60mm long rather than the 32s from the hardware) should do the trick. A lot of chairs rely on dowel joints and people like Sam Maloof used them a lot so I am pretty happy with them too. The rails that I fastened the table top to also ran past the inside connection of the rail and leg. These were also glued and screwed on both sides of the dowel joint which reinforced the joint.
Sorry this shot was a little out of focus but shows the rail and screw running through.
