Default Tasmanian Myrtle Dining Table comission

Well after a bit of time off furniture making and moving workshops, home etc I have to saddle back up and knock up a dining table. This one is for some Sydney clients again, Tasmanian Myrtle, 2.2m long x 1.5m wide. I thicknessed the boards up the other day and spent today triming them to the approx length and a quick jointing so I could do the set out on the boards. The clients had a few colour/feature requirements so I have set the boards out and emailed them photos to make sure they are happy with the layout. The top boards now numbered and set out I will go back to the legs and frame tomorrow. photo 1 is just where I had marked some of the boards to be trimmed with chalk, photo 2 & 3 are just of each end of the table. Ok off and running.

Oh, I'll take some more photos of the workshop and update that thread tomorrow.

Good to see you back again. I suspect that the photos were taken without flash and under fluro lighting. Colour just doesn't look like myrtle.

Hi Guys, the top is a little lighter than the timber in the legs and rails. The fluro lights which hang over the benches tend to wash it out though. I'll turn the lights off next time.
Will have some more photos tonight.
Ray, I walked over to the supermarket a while ago and got a nice big ham hock, some split peas and vegies. Soup tonight

Ok, some more photos of the days progress (and yesterday) Pic1, lop off the legs and rails, cut to width, quick jointing. Pic 2 The legs are tapered so I made a sled for the table saw. Pic 3 on the table saw. Pic 4 getting the 45s right before cutting the legs. Pic 5 cutting the 45/mitre joints on the table saw.Pic 6 a quick joint of the back of the leg. Pic 7 legs ready for the next stage. Pic 8 Marking the angle on the end of the rails. They were then cut on the drop saw. Pic 9 legs and rails butted together for a check. Pic legs and rails done. Few braces and cross members to cut and then have to put it all together. I ordered a new self centering doweling ig from McJings last night so with any luck it will be here tomorrow. The legs and rails are only 30mm so I have decided to use multipul dowels for the joint. They will also have a brace running behind them that will suport the table top. So far so good Also still doing some jobs around the workshop (oops forgot to get those other photos today) maybe toimorrow

This is coming together quick...as usual.
I'd better get in for a visit before it goes out the door.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Hi Tony, yes pop by for a cupper if you're in town, few more days to yet, then a few coats of finish so you have a week, well a short week.
Terry the top is 25mm at the moment but I may shave a little more off them yet to keep the weight down and tidy them up a bit more. The frame timbers are 30mm hence the doweled joints rather then my usual mortise and tenons.
Hey there, its the "Stud" back from overseas and with a new roll to play, boy I'm on borowed time now Mr Moderator deep and low bow

Ok todays efforts, doweled up the legs and rails, doweled the mitre on the first leg and glued up. I picked up (well mail delivery) a new doweling jig from McJings of this one. I did a slight modification to it so all 4 holes are 3/8", it comes with two so I ordered two spares and tack welded them into the 3rd and 4th holes which are normaly for 7/16 & 1/2" worked a treat. Clamped it on and drilled the 4 holes straight up. Very easy and quick. McJings offering there usual fast and efficent service (thanks guys) overnight service it great. So some pics
