Ok, well I was hoping for some progress on this build this weekend but unfortunately life took over and I only got a couple of hours in the shop. I milled some timber for drawer fronts and ripped some for sides but nothing worth showing yet.
I did mount the top, properly mount the lift (needed to file away some of the cast iron top to fit the bolts) and I also made a replacement dust port on the Jessem TA fence. Original was a 60mm port whereas I wanted 100mm.

Temporarily plugged it up and there is some GOOD suction there!

Never posted a video link so please let me know if this works and/or if it's ok to do so.
A very short clip of the dust collection in action during the first test cuts on the router table. Still not properly wired up etc but wanted to give it a go. I'm very happy based on this initial try. No dust to be seen or smelt etc.

Hey guys,
Been a bit slack posting updates on this. So here are a few snaps of progess:
The next step was drawers. I decided to start with the 7 narrow top half drawers as a batch. I also decided on blackwood fronts with half-blind dovetails and tassie oak sides.

I planed the drawers to fit and allowed about 0.5-1mm gap vertically for expansion (it's been humid lately so they are more likely to shrink than expand I think).

I made some handles that while simple, I think suit the build.

Magnificent.
Every time I consider making the ultimate router table, the bar get raised and I go back to dreaming...
What table top (cast iron) did you use?

Thanks Leigh. No need to make the "ultimate" router table, just one that you're happy with.
The cast iron top is one from Timbecon. The Jessem fence and lift fit with minimal fuss and only required filing away some cast iron in the corners off the lift cutout which was a 5 min job.

Uhmmm... this cabinet is for your workshop, right?... Puts my household furniture work to shame...
Thanks Rob,
Yeah a tool cabinet is definitely on the wish list, as is a Roubo, a stand for my still boxed up drum sander and my Vicmark which is also waiting on a stand... with maybe a furniture project in between. Too many projects not enough hours- a problem i'm sure we all have.

Man, things are definitely getting pretty bleak at the moment. Seems kind of irrelevant posting project pics etc but finishing this cabinet still gave me a lift and getting in the shop still provides some relief from thinking about all the health and economic craziness that is going down.
I finished the router table. Here are some pics -

In retrospect, if i knew up-front that i was going to go all fancy with the dovetailed blackwood fronts on the drawers I wouls have veneered the side panels in Blackwood as well but it is just shop furniture I guess.

That is nice enough to be a piece of furniture in your loungeroom. Not sure SWMBO would be too happy for you to use it in there!
Alan...
Dom
That is sooo good. Congratulations. I'd be bringing it into the lounge room. SWMBO can go to the shed if she wasn't comfortable with the intrusion.
:D
Regards
Paul
PS. If I met your SWMBO, I would deny everything: Only this courageous at a distance of 750Km. :(
