Timing is everything
Was at a mates place friday night .... few beers and all's going well until....
He says 'all the family is decending on my place for christmas and I don't have enough table space to seat them all'.
Then his darling wife says 'Steve can you make a big table for the outdoor area'. Think I got sucker punched on that one.
About 10 mins after this a builder mate rings me up and says 'I've just left a heap of oregon on your front lawn'.
So now I can build his table.
Got 5 weeks........

I like it. Perfect timing.
Might suggest to start with the top and if any delays you can place this on temporary legs.

Unfortunatley got stuck in on Saturday morning and started on the legs. The legs and stretcher are using the 8" X 2" pieces. Will post some pics when I get home.
Thought it was going to rain on Saturday arvo so denailed, cleaned up and thicknessed these peices so I had something to do while it rained.
Didn't happen did it. So filled in the nail/screw holes...etc... and since it rained all day Sunday I got to sand.....
Tonight, hopefully can mark out the mortices and start on them. Should have the legs and stretcher finished by Thursday ready for glue up on Saturday.
Got the apprentices this week end so anything could happen during glue up.
At least she (princess) is getting a lot better and he (Monster) has stopped trying to glue her hair up. But using poly glue........

Ray,
It's home built. Found a broken Ryobi SCMS on a council cleanup.
Didn't have a use for it but grabbed it anyway. Months later had to do some work on FIL's holiday house.
It involved a lot of half lap joints to be done. So invented what you now have called a SCMR.
The router is bolted to a frame which in turn is bolted to the sliding mechanism. Has some grub screws there, it allows for some adjustments.
Went beautifully on the 300+ half lap joints and works a treat especially on those big tenons (90 X 150).

Looks like a great project, but I would like to see a couple more photos of your SCMR - I won't steal the idea - really, I won't

Avery,
Copying it and making one for yourself...go right ahead. It was make basically because of need...300+ lap joints by hand...don't think so.
It's come in quite useful now and then...like now...
Will post some more photos but in a different thread.
Anyway had a spare hour so got two of the mortices done 150 X 50 through a 90 X 55... only got two more through and two blind left.
Got to go to and see the client (drink more beer with him) and measure a radius for the end of the top.
Arthur,
The top will be about 2600 X 1200 X about 70 or 75 thick.

Got some early time from work. Managed to cleanup the mortices and got every to fit nicely.
Now out with the glue......
They match within about 1mm. Height is perfect.

Now to do the centre stretcher and start on the top.......
