Bob that is solid gold! My girlfriend's dad did something similar when he sold one of his original coca-cola yo-yos that he got from the Moonee Ponds Tuck shop back in the 60s and kept in mint condition.

    I condone dumpster diving!

Apologies all. Progress has temporarily halted as work has had me pinned down like a fly stuck in molasses! But here is a different perspective to the tool cab.

I'll chuck this pic up of the tool cab with the hand planes removed.

    .....caution: Nudity!

    I’m inspired now.

To build a tool cabinet. And buy some more planes...

    Go for it mate!

You dont necessarily need more planes for a tool cab, how many do you have?

    Well...

When I first started playing around with wood I bought a used Stanley block plane and a plastic handled Stanley No. 4. Much preferred using power tools until I bought a diamond plate and realised how useful a sharp blade is. Bought an old wooden handled Stanley No. 4 1/2 and a Veritas block plane. Bought a Tormek and now able to keep all my blades in good shape. Pull out the planes for fun, just to put a few shavings around the bench.

But the real surprise was when I bought some old saws and a wooden plane cheap to put on the walls for decoration. The wooden plane is about 400 mm long and has a German blade - maybe the plane is German. I flattened the sole and sharpened the blade and absolutely love it. The antithesis of power tools. Wooden tools cutting wood!
