Warning for woodworkers
Do not allow SWMBO take up a hobby that is in any way aligned with your woodworking.
Here is a cedar bedroom suite made a while ago.
IMG_1748.jpgIMG_1749.jpgIMG_1750.jpg
I am almost finished a companion piece, made to the same basic design. Here it is. Fighter Command designed and made the lead lighting.
IMAG0152.jpg
So, when people look at it do they marvel at my first frame and panel doors... no.
Do they delight in the raised doors ... no.
Do they note how well all the pieces match ... no.
Do they comment on the cabinet work at all ... again ... no.
They gasp and wax lyrical about the lead light inserts ... and how they do go on ... and on ... and on ... per tedium ad naseaum ad infinitum.
Do not allow SWMBO to take up a hobby that might be associated with your woodworking in some way. Do not build her a workbench with a built in backlight, and do not build a new home that gives her a personal studio. She may just steal the limelight entirely. Mine did!
You have been warned.

Hi,
Now you know what the builders of the Sistine Chapel felt like after some one let that guy paint the ceiling.
Regards
Ps Not a bad bit of wood work any way.Hugh
Enough is enough, more than enough is too much.

Shouldn't that piece be posted in the leadlight section rather than the wood section???

Oh dear, seems like we've got something in common. My other half does lead lighting as a hobby and has suggested, numerous times, that we combine our hobbies.
I'm now going out to the garage and accidentally stack some timber on some glass-Scott

Truly, ours can be a cruel and unjust universe.
First Fighter Command steals all the limelight.
Then some of my woodworking associates (as opposed to mates) make rude comments about how the glass matches the carpet or that my post should have gone in the leadlighting section. Cruel and unnatural punishment ...
Thank heavens for kindred souls like cheseand and cava.
I'm with Scott.
Darned cat ... It's sitting in herself's studio looking at her glass supply. Perhaps it is contemplating pulling the large sheets of glass out of the sloping rack I built for SWMBO and bring them crashing to the floor. Is it not terrible when animals are so destructive?

That's the best looking lead light I've seen for sometime now, I wonder what other type of wood could match in with it. The colour, design and style is so in keeping with period. Now if only she could get a decent woodworker to make some units to show it off better, the girls will just love it.
SBPower corrupts, absolute power means we can run a hell of alot of power tools

Scott,
Thanks for the kind comment.
Rod,
Yes, she is a keeper all Right. Pretty average cook, but man does not live by bread alone! That's part of the problem. How does one get cranky with such a brilliant wife? One does not, I suppose. One grins and bears it, apart from a few silly comments on this board.
Superbunny,
You live way too close to be so cruel and unkind. Did you know that Dick Smith and Tandy sell the mercury switches needed to make an anti disturbance device? Beware your letter box ... and your car.

Wot's all the fuss about!!??
I see beautiful woodwork, actually superb craftsmanship and great design!!
I love the bedhead!! nice touch of Art Deco..
The leadlight merely complements the wondeful joinery of the cabinet.
"Bout time the SWAMBOS Union was put in its place!!

Very nice woodwork, not to mention very nice timber.......leadlight, schmeadlight...
Just out of interest, what finish did you use on these pieces?? It really brings out the colour of the timber, without being too OTT.
Cheers
