Looks great!!!
Was going to comment on the colour but you've covered that issue.
You don't think the Surian will be too soft do you? My experience is that it marks very easily.

Very nice John the Surian will look great with a couple of coats and the colour will certainly come up well. I like the design of your daybed very much and am sure your better half will be very pleased. You are correct about the lack of rug rats leading to much easier maintained furniture. I also did a bed from Surian many years ago and it is still in great condition.
Regards Rod.

John, good looking work, but one issue, the rule that I follow, if it is a SWMBO "request" there must be a toy or two that I have been wanting for a while that just has to be purchased to complete the project

Time for the truth
When I designed our home a courtyard off the master bedroom was included. At the time I offered to build SWMBO a day bed. Four years after we moved in and it is finally becoming a reality. Had an old silky oak bed parked there until last week, so there was something in the courtyard, but it was not the promised day bed.
So, her indoors has been very patient.

In the good books with SWMBO. Mission accomplished.

Thanks, Scott.
If I were to do it again I'd make a few small changes, but am happy with it the way it is.
Always seems to be that after a job is finished all sorts of small improvements become more obvious. Said as much to SWMBO, who quickly suggested I make another for the front porch (this one goes into the courtyard off the master bedroom).
One day I may make a few pieces for sale, and this item might have commercial possibilities. Also thinking of modifying the design for a bed ... lose the back rails ... shorten one end for the foot and lengthen the other end for a head, but perhaps make the insert in the head solid timber. My son says I should not do this ... that the existing design provides convenient points to fasten rope. All will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Passed Inspection
The day bed passed inspection by SWMBO and the dog.

The unit's final resting place, in our courtyard. My workshop is on the other side of that window.

Thanks, Artme.
I know where all the tiny flaws are, of course ... but am telling nobody.

And after all that hard work you still haven't progressed up the pecking order. Don't give up mate!

Looks great John, has nice color with the finish on.
Anything that has the stamp of approval from SWMBO is a job well done.
Steven.
