At last all finished and it looks as good or better than the pictures, Mrs superbunny is over the moon with it. I'm glad I did this project as it was a good learning curve for inlay and I'm sure I will do more inlay in the future. I wish I hadn't used poly as the finish as it was a B*** to use and clean up but I did not want to use the orange shellac for fear it would kill the contrasting woods. Anyhow it's done now and I'm pleased. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Veery interesting journey, SB, thanks for sharing with us. Still don't know how you made the flexible inlay strips and the inlay grooves.

Why didn't you use some dewaxed hardened shellac that Neil Ellis sells? It doesn't stain the timber
    regards,

    Dengy

Very interesting journey, SB, thanks for sharing with us. You have certainly made a nice heirloom there.

I cut the grooves and inlay strips using the Lie Nielsen and Veritas inlay tools to right a review for a magazine. I did not use the dewaxed shellac as I did not know about it but now I do thanks.
