I think your gonna like this, it's really coming on now. Here it is glued up with all the case inlay done. The lid is just resting on the case, yet to get the hinges for it. Now working on the inlay for the draws.

This is coming along extremely well SB!!
No doubt about you. You sure have chosen a variety of difficult and different
projects over the years.

I've got the draw fronts done now and soon to finish the draws themselves with dove tails, naturally.

I'm on my way now to doing the finish by building up coats to get that great finish on the project. I have chosen to use a satin poly for the finish but I prefer Shelac unfortunatley the orange would darken the Silky Oak after a few coats and take away from the contrast of the Red Cedar and Gum inlay. You can see I have made the bottom trim using three different router bits and I think I got close to the origional pattern, it's all down hill form here and I will probably not post again untill I get the finish right ready for the hardware to complete the job.

Thanks for the comments guys. I already have two coats of finish on and I think it will take another four to get the build I need for a great finish. I expect a couple of weeks before I get back to show progress, god I hate poly finishes, it gets every where when you spray it and it takes ages to dry, and then the drips and thick areas to clean up, give me shelac any day.

It has been a couple of weeks now and I'm getting there. I will be on a cruise for the next fortnight so will not get anything done, however, here are some pics of a draw after buffing and all the gold put in place, I just can't wait to finish it now.

I'm back from my cruise and done some more work but still not got the main chest finished as I hoped. In the mean time here are the three draws and the lid all finished and awaiting the rest. I just love tyhe figure in the lid, ain't it just something?
