Nice WW and I'll take all the advice given. I hope to combine both in that copied from plans based on the original and some of my own design in the apron and in the end I hope I'll still have something that I can say is a Queen Anne nice-looking-table -dresser-with-cabriole-legs but dose not look as if its been copied just from plans but Queen Anne would like if she was alive today as she may not know one lowboy from another but it looks good. Did I realy say all that in one sentence? More pics coming soon with the apron finished.

Well we got it all clamped and glued up now and it's starting to look the part. As you can see the apron is all styled and finished along with the sides. Now to finish the internals and then start on the draws.

Coming along nicely

Well I've been finishing some of those little things that need to be done before you move on like the little bits at the top of the legs and the draw slids and guides as internals. I did some stuff on the top also. I've made a start on a draw but I'm now distracted by the dye I need to make up for the final colour of the wood to highlight the figure etc, but I will progress on regardless that I'm back to work after cleaning up from the floods. Don't worry, the guys in Brisbane and other parts came off worse than me by comparison.

It's sure going to be nice to see the grain pop when you get the oil down.

It's coming along very well indeed. What have you come up with so far for the stain?
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Peter36 here are some results of the dye tests. As WW gave me some guide on what to mix I tried his receipe first. After a small trial I added a little more orange and ended up with what you now can see. The first pic is the dye after drying on the wood sanded to 400 before application. It's a side panel I decided didn't make the grade so I thought I would use it for testing. The second pic is the same panel but I have put three coats of Hard Shellac on it and done the same with a small strip on the bottom half just to show the contrast. What do you think? Let me know if you think I've got it right as this is my first time with dye also.

That's a nice base colour. Some garnet shellac over that stain would make a good 'old' colour..
