Looking good superbunny.
Having used a fair bit of mapleman's maple recently, I can add the following observations. Several coats of boiled linseed oil darken the heartwood significantly, and bring out the figure nicely. Garnet shellac brings it to a nice reddish brown (not dissimilar to the default forum woodgrain).
I've not tried colouring the wood first like you have. Why not give your sample piece a few coats of oil to see if you like the effect.

Well its been some time since my last post, but to be honest with you all I've been very hard at work but not getting very far. You see it's the dam dove tails. I've had to do several draws just to get one good one. Yes I tried to do them by hand, not good. I tried to do them with a hand type jig, not good there. So I tried using my Incra jig and we started to get close to the quality I am after but it's not without problems. Any how I seem to be on the right track now. You got to remember that every time I get a failed dove tail joint, I've got to cut and machine from scratch off the slab and that takes time. Anyhow I've learnt much in the process. I've got three pics of the top draw finished as per the plan instructions. Enjoy.

My choice of colour is the second lot. Will be interesting to see how WW's suggestion for using Garnet Shellac goes>

Expensive drawers, but priceless experience. Well done!
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Well at long last I've got all the draws finished and a trial of the draw pulls attached just to show what they might look like when finished. I got the ones as per the plans from the good old USA. Only just got the lock so I have to install that soon. Today I started to do the dye but have not finished it yet. Enjoy
