Hope you proceed with the stringy shelf. Beautiful contrast between the two, and will definitely enhance the internals on opening of the doors. Would be nice to see it used on the main bodies of the drawers also. Well done.

    Thanks Craig.

I have used contrasting timbers for the internals before and like it also.

The original plan was to use stringy for all internal components including the draws aswell and i'll be continuing with this plan.
Just not sure wether to use full stringy draws (4 sides) with redgum false fronts or to rebate some redgum for a front and stringy to complete the other three sides. This second approach would certainly look a lot better upon opening the draws. I'll be using my Leigh dovetail jig to make the draws and know that you can do a rebate front with it but i've never done it before. I may make a mock rebate front from stringy and try this method before using the redgum.

I'll see when i get to this stage.

Sounds like a smart approach. As the saying goes, it is better to have tried and failed than to have failed to try.

Based on your efforts to date, I'm sure you'll find a suitable solution.

Sorry cava, no progress on this.

This is a project i started for myself but it has been left dusty in the corner whilst i have been busy doing stuff for others.

Will soon (in the next few weeeks) post up some pics of a chest of draws i'm currently doing for my nephew, kindly paid for by his dad.

I'm keen to see this one finished though.....

    Steven.
