bearing lubrication
hi guys have model a how to you lubricate the n the bearing that hold the pully from the motor and that hold the drive pulley i think it is called the counter shaft bearing any way how do you lubricate them as on of mine is getting very hot t it's nit seized because it's not making any nose that leads me to belive there is two much friction in the bearing. there is little plates with a ball in them that a think are for lubrication but not sure hoe to get the grease into them.
also how do you add your lathe to the register
thanks andre

If the counter shaft has Bearings on it they are a sealed bearing, you dont put oil in them, they are pregreased normally for the life of the bearing.
If you can see the rollers that would indicate that the dust shields are missing,in which case it would be advisable to replace the bearings.
If the dust shields are intact and you wanted to repack them you would have to remove the Bearings from the unit to do it correctly.
It would really serve no purpose to remove the outer dust shields and force new grease into the bearing as you would be unable to exhaust any old grease or foriegn matter that was retained by the inner shield.
If you do remove the bearings to repack you would be far better off tossing them and put new sealed bearings in.

Did you end up replacing the Bearings on your shaft.
Just another thought in regards to your bearings getting hot,the bearings in normal operation will get warm/hot with no need to worry, but seeing that the counter shaft rotates at a relatively low speed an excessive amount of heat would be an indicator of potential problems.
If you can get a screw driver or similar onto the bearing housing and listen to it,if it sounds noisy or vibrates it could indicate pitting of the rollers in the race.
The Bearings you should require are 6203 Im not sure about the prefix following the bearing No for the sealed type.

FYI,
6203LLU = 2 neoprene seals both sides, 6203-2RS is the same. 6203ZZ = 2 metal shields (non contact) After that C2 = std clearance C3 is more clearance for heat & higher loading.
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers.
