Default Boxford accessories for a Hercus 9?

    Hi all,
Has anyone used any Boxford parts on your Hercus 9"? I'm particularly interested in the spindle nose thread. From what I've read, the only difference being Hercus is 60 deg and Boxford is 55 deg. I was considering a revolving tailstock adaptor from RDG in England, designed to fit Boxford 1 1/2" X 8tpi, but I'm concerned that my Hercus chuck may not be happy on a 55 deg spindle.
    Cheers,
    Greg.

I have a slotted cross slide that is made for a Boxford lathe. It fits both my Hercus 9" and 260.
I don't know if the spindle thread angle mismatch would be a problem.
Have you tried tools4cheap in USA for parts for South Bend 9" ?

    Thanks Jordan,
I checked, they don't have one. I have a Myford thread revolving centre off my old lathe. If it comes to it, I'll make up a threaded adapter for the Hercus chuck. Probably be a good exercise in thread cutting with an internal 1 1/8" 10tpi 55 deg to external 1 1/2" 8tpi 60 deg, but it would be nice to know if the Boxford chucks were compatable.
    Cheers,
    Greg

    Default chuck test

    Hi Guys,
For what it's worth, I just tried a chuck from one of my Boxfords on the hercus 9. It went on easily(no free play) and locked onto the registered well. I'll try it the other way round when I can get to the Boxfords(currently hidden behind some machines) and let you know.
