Default How would a photo album made up of Hercus machines

Hi All, as I sit bored out of my brain waiting for my next OP I thought as I have already got a page of Hercus Owners Lathes

How would you feel if I make up a Photo album that I can then email to all who wants it ????

I would like some more pictures as I did lose a few when my Computer crashed plus if you have any old catalouges or pictures of Hercus machines I would be glad to get them as well

As we have ZILCH on the History of the HERCUS the photo album maybe the closest we get to some sort of History

Plus any before and after Photos would be a bonus

all the best Derek aka bitza500

Emailing around a library of images is not the best way to go.

Doing the sums will quickly show why. Even if each image could be compressed as little as 50 kb (ie limited details), 100+ machines is going to be 5Mb - this is not the sort of thing that is emailed around too easily.

Ideally to see enough detail each machine might need 3 or 4 representative photos, and if we want before and after images now we are talking 30+ Mb for an image archive.

Another idea is to start an official Photo thread for members to post their own images on - or for members who don't know how to post images, to email images to you to post. I could then assemble these in numerical order in the closed sticky.

Default Not just a pretty face

Hi Rob, I had never thought of adding the 2 together or even a ugly owner owner photo could be added HaHa

I am just a 1 man band trying to get as much as Possible about the GOOD old HERCUS before they become extinct or a DAEWOO or a HYUNDAI I have asked and asked but there just is nothing bar what this Forum shows for the HERCUS which when you think they have been around since 1939 someone must have some old pictures or anything showing inside the factory and what else they made

As Fred Hercus book?? was from 1920 to 1970 well what did he do from 1920 till 1939 ??

If anybody has anything big or small or knows of what Hercus did make between 1920 -1970 it would be a bonus as I have yet to find a lot (Thank you those who sent me items)

Surely there has to be something as Steve Durden said it was all destroyed after the 9" finished Production???

But any help to add to the Forum would be a great help

all the best Derek aka bitza500

What a great idea. I have experience with a similar arrangement. See the following:
Open Fire Engines Photos - - Fire Trucks Pictures and Images Library
In Search Box enter 4115 and press Search
Car 4115 is my baby and a reason why I own a Hercus lathe.

Derek can be the moderator as he is for the register. The lathes can be arranged in date order where changes can be instantly recognised. Owner photo will give some more meaning to the register concept.

    I am willing to participate.

The project took from May 2001 until December 2004.

I, three good mates and my wife spent almost every weekend at it.

    Enjoy the photos.
