Thread: This Hercus lathe stand (see photo) is for what model machine?

A Google image search threw up a similar one at Graysonline auctions as part of a Hercus model AR lathe, and another one here on WWF supporting a model A lathe. But was this stand supplied for other Hercus models too? Roughly what decade would it be from? 1960s or 1970s or ...?

Is it the sort of thing that a Hercus lathe owner would be seeking?

I am thinking of selling it, after taking off the outdated electricals, attending to the spots of rust and touching up the paintwork.

Would suit a 9" A B or C.
If someone didnt have one they maybe interested,they can also be adapted to suit a range of the small chow stuff.

All those models (A, B, C) had similar centre-to-centre distance between the mounts?

Which one would this most likely have been from?

Any of the same length model 9"s could of been on that cabinet,they all had the same base foot print.

Pipeclay, that's useful to know. Ok. So probably/possibly the stand I have was provided as kit for the model A or AR (these are the ones I've seen photos of with a similar stand), but could just as easily be used on models B or C. It is hard to attribute styling on the stand to any decade, to me it looks like it could have been made any time between the 1950s and 1970s. Unless anyone has better information?

Interesting that it has three rotary selectors. One for FWD and REV obviously. I wonder what the other two are for?

Ok, 1967. That's a good datum point for me. At least I know now that this type of cabinet was in production in the late 60s. Ta for that.

Yes on the one in the photo, the electrics are a bit overblown I think. I'm not too sure what the extra rotary switches do.

Ok, I removed the mounting blocks that were on the Hercus stand.

The hole centres are spaced 4.625" (117.5mm) apart, and aligned with holes through the drip tray and holes through strengthening beams underneath the drp tray. So looks like Hercus foot mount spacing, though I don't know that for sure.

The markings KH26 and A5402/1 are cast into the top surface of the blocks.

Are these Hercus mounting blocks, or from some other manufacturer (I know they are not Myford).
