Hercus manufacture dates
From a chart that has been circulating around this forum, it seems the last 260 was made in 1998.

They were still advertised as available in 2001.. About $12 000 from memory whether they actually made/sold any is another matter..
They did make the last of the genuine South Bend lathes, for South Bend in the US... That was in the mid naughties I think...

I visited the Hercus factory around 1996 and they mentioned they 4 lathe bed castings remaining and that was it. As RC says the asking price was uncompetitive with similar sized imports.
