Chucks Wanted
I am looking at purchasing a 3 and 4 jaw chuck to suit the 260 which I have just aquired but thought I would just ask if anyone had any 3 or 4 jaw chucks that they were no longer in need of and were willing to sell?

Hi, If you end up having to buy new chucks, have a good look at Bison chucks made in Poland.

i have a "tos" chuck for sale made in poland with back plate to suit a 260
BUT as it only comes with internal jaws and included postage to perth you would be lookin at around $140and it is in used condition
would you be better off getting a chinese chuck from say ctctools or cdcco thats got both sets of jaws new and a back plate from say amwh or pipeclay for not much more

Thanks for that, I most definetely will have a look at Bison, but from the looks of things, Bison are towards the top end of the market and I may be over-capitalising by fitting one to my machine. I am currently leaning towards probably a couple of more economical Fuerda chucks from Hare & Forbes if nothing else turns up.
I just put the post up on a whim that someone may have had a chuck or two gathering dust and wanted to offload them.
Thanks again.

Hi John
Yeah I am guessing that I will have to go down the path of buying a couple of new chinese chucks, in your opinion, are they of decent quality or would I be better off holding out for a good secondhand Pratt Burnard or equivalent??

i have a couple of pratt burnerds and a tos but i use a chinese one for evry day tinkering but the pratt burnerds have both sets of jaws
4 jaw pb are hard to get that fit a 260 ( you cant have mine lol) unless you get one that is a plain backed one ( needs a back plate)
suggest you get some others opinions
used chucks can be by my experience a waste of good $$$ unless you happen on a good one ex school ones can be a bit of a lottery

Yeah absolutely, thanks John.
I just had a look at CDCO's website and their prices look fantastic, do you know whether the freight prices are reasonable or not.

I have just bought a 125mm 3 jaw off CTC tools.... Has not arrived yet so no idea of quality.... Price including delivery for the CTC 125mm is $156 (air freight) A Fuerda from H&F is about the same price...($150)
A 125mm bison I priced from Millers Tools in Brisbane was $355+ freight.
For just a 3 jaw I decided to go chinese...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

I have a 6" 4 jaw Pratt in good nick that I'll let go for ninety bucks. At present it has a backplate for a nine fitted. I will keep the backplate. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Cdco
Frank at CDCO uses flat rate USPS 20 pound boxes ... I got a 5" three jaw from him , it fitted into the 20 pound box easily ..plus room for more bits to make up the 20 pounds . The chuck is more than good enough for hobby use .
His prices are hard to beat ... has anyone got the 2012 catalogue ....MIKE

Also if anyone has a set of jaws to suit a burnerd 4" chuck please let me know, inside, outside or both. Even if they aren't in the best condition as at the moment I have a chuck without jaws and wouldn't mind getting some use out of it.
Sorry for slight thread hijack
