Hercus saddle disassembly?
I'm finally well enough to resume restoring "the old girl", about time!
I'm struggling with the saddle & want to dismantle it completely. So far I have the domed nut and handle off, taking care not to lose the woodruff key. With great care I have also managed to prize off the graduated collar, it was frozen on the spindle.
I'm stuck with the cross feed bushing. Is this part screwed in? The poor quality of my spare parts booklet, reveals very little. There is a blind hole in the underside of this part which seems to suggest a C-spanner is required. Am I on the right track?
If it does unscrew, is it a RH thread, and is there a way of undoing it without a C-spanner?
All help will be appreciated.

Your ALIVE
Hi Ken the bushing in the carraige is 11/16" BSF/UNF plain rh thread
the only oddball is the screw inside the the dog clucth knob the 4 point handle which is LH thread When removing the dog clutch there is 2 Half moon items which are lightly sprung loaded so watch were they land
The Nowhere hole I normally drill larger to remove previous screwdriver attacks and then use a pin punch one knock and she is loose ,I do have the right cpin spanner to do this but as my Track record of getting to see you is dismal
I mwill email some paperwork which may help
all the best Derek

Thanks Derek,
Using the stem of an old drill bit inserted into the blind hole, a couple of gentle taps undid the bushing, wallah. I presume now the spindle should just screw out. Stay tuned.
Yep, the saddle is now completely stripped down, easy, peasy. Stripping, priming and painting is next, along with polishing all the non painted items. Will post some pics later.
