Hercus for sale
I work at a school and looking at selling a Hercus milling machine and a Hercus Shaper. Where do I find the model numbers and other information on the machines? Any idea on what they are worth? Both are in excellent conditions with accessories. 3 phase. They were disconnected as they weren't used any more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what the value would be. But would be easier to estimate if you posted some photos.

When you take the photos try and get pictures of any and all extras that come with them.
There may only be a vice on the shaper as an extra, the serial/model for the shaper will be located on the left front corner of the ram slide if you stand at the front,if standing at the rear (motor) it would be on the right. There should be around 6 numbers or letters broken by some slashers,2 of the numbers will be year and month of manufacture and the other with letters and numbers will be model/build number.
On the Mill you could have a vice,Vertical Head,Horizontal Arbor (maybe 2 ),a Dividing Head,Tailstock.
List that the machines are more than likely 3 phase.
Price wise the Shaper could sell for upto $1200,depending on the market, unless you know what to look for on it,it would be hard to describe condition ,the same can be said for the Mill.
Mill prices could be upto $3000,once again depending on the market and extras.
As these have come out of a school there is the chance that they could show a little damage more so than wear.
If you were trying to sell these machines for the school a price of $300 to $600 would be a ball park for the Shaper and $1200 to $1500 for the Mill.

If you dont wish to break the items up the only item that goes with the shaper is the vice, which is attached to its table.Seeing that the Shaper is a 270 it would be priced from $800 to $1500,if not more due to the fact that it is a geared model and there are not many around.
All the other items are for Mill,if you wanted you could seperate them but would be good to keep it together. With the items that come with the mill you could expect somewhere from $1800 to $3000 if not more.
The Mill alone could be worth $1400 to $1800,the Dividing Head $250 to $400,the Tail Stock to suit the Dividing Head $150 to $200,the Vertical Head to suit the Mill $350 to $600 and the vice $150 to $250.
These prices are based on what has been paid on ebay in the past.

Gents, please note this is now a For Sale and should not be in this forum. However, moderators have decided to leave it here as it would make a mess to try and sort it out. In future please observe the rules about sales, and sales on other sites.
