Wanted jaws for Burnerd 4" 3 jaw chuck.
Hi,
I have a burnerd 4" 3 jaw chuck here without any jaws. The part number for the chuck is 1580-01005. What are my chances of finding some jaws to suit, either new or secondhand? I have attached a photo of the chuck below.
Thanks

chuck jaws
The Iron body is a common model, I will have a look next time I am sourcing parts and see whats available. I don't think the outside jaws will be a problem but the inside jaws are rarely available secondhand in good condition and new ones hardly ever. A full secondhand chuck however is a possibility and would be the better option cost wise. Have you tried Pratt Bernerd International, 500 machinery are their local agents.

Thanks for that, I will try the sites suggested to see if anything can be tracked down.
Slightly off topic here, would there be any issues mounting a 160mm chuck to the faceplate?

Probably none as long as none of the holes for the chuck fall into any of the holes in the Face plate.
You would need to make sure that there was enough meat in the Face plate to machine the registration for the chuck.
Why not just use a Backing plate for the chuck and keep your Face plate for Face plate work.

I'm pretty new to this, a backing plate would make more sence. Can I buy a backing plate that will screw straight into my spindle to suit the 160mm chuck?

Yes you can,but it would require it to be finished to suit your chuck.

Might be a little too advanced for me at the moment, I think I will try and find some replacement jaws or a complete chuck the same as what I am at the moment.

Might be able to help with a backplate, I have a one with a 1 1/2" x 8 tpi thread you can have for the postage cost. It has 8 tapped holes in it already but the mounting thread is good. The OD is just over 140mm and it has a second location step at approximately 80mm.
If you are not interested others are welcome to contact me.
Mm.

Having supplied the link to replacement jaws as I did above, it would appear that it is probabley cheaper and easier to buy a new chuck complete and use the old chuck as a downrigger weight when you go trolling for trout next time.
