Leadscrew Gear Sizes.
I have been asked to make some Leadscrew Gears for a Model A Hercus/Sheraton.
This is the Gear that goes on the end of the Leadscrew that is inside the Quick Change Box.
Would any body happen to know what the Correct DP cutter would be for this Gear.
It is 20 Teeth and the OD of the Gear is 1.375".
Before you say by the Formula that this is a 16DP I need to if this is correct, because when you Compare a 16 DP cutter to the supplied sample the Profile of Cutter to Gear is way off,on the other hand an 18 DP cutter is spot on.
I also no that for what ever reason there is no Conformity when it comes to Backgears either in regards to Number of Teeth and DP equateing to a Diameter.
Thankyou for any insight.

Thanks for the Chart Peter, when I do all the Calculations associated with the Gear in Question everything points to it being a 16DP.
Your Charts also show it to be 16DP my measurement came to .290" and going by your Chart it should be .291".
The only reason I was concerned was the way the 16DP cutter looked in the Tooth compared to the 18DP.
Will just cut them at 16DP and see how they look,if they dont seem OK Ill cut some at 18DP doesnt take long to make the blanks and 20 teeth is only a bit over an hours Gear Cutting time.

I only have 14.5 Degree cutters, when I compare the tooth profile to a 20 Degree you can see a distinct difference,I am very confident that the Gear I have as a sample is 14.5 Degree PA.
