Leveling a hercus 260
Hi,
I was just trawling through some old posts and read one about not having your lathe correctly leveled. Apparently your bed can warp over time to the bend its on?
My hercus 260 came bolted to the original hercus table. However my garage floor is not entirely level. I've simply shimmed it up, but it still has some wobble when run at high speeds. Should I be concerned? Can I use a carpenter's level to make it more accurate? Or do I have to get a machinist's level and do it properly. I don't own the house so I can't bolt the table to the floor or do anything too drastic.
Any suggestions?
Cheers Ben.

Try as best as you can to get the base as level as possable, you dont want any movement at all if possable.

It can only take a set if it is stressed beyond it's yield point..
With the 260 on it's cabinet the four bolts that hold it to the cabinet are the levelling bolts...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.
