Couldnt tell you if its made of bits and pieces as the Sheraton/Hercus contain a lot of similar/interchangable parts.
Not sure if Sheraton ever went with the Cam-Lock type tailstock on there 9's as the ones I have seen are the bolt down type as used on the Southbend, this maybe a part from a latter Hercus.
The Headstock arrangement appears to be standard Sheraton.
If your overly concerned it might be better to visually inspect the lathe, most wear parts on the lathe can either be purchased or repaired.

    My Sheratom 9A S/N A1167 has a camlock tailstock.
    It looks original.

Hi Daniel, I would say that it is Sheraton in quite original condition, the high school I went to had a virtually identical looking machine. The owner might be mistaken about the name, I think Sheraton marketed their 9" clone as the "Cub".
