    Hello,
I have an Hercus Model C, which was made in 1946, according to the serial number.
My question is where might I start looking for techinical information about the size of the thread and tpi for a chuck for it. (It has a 3 jaw Burnerd chuck fitted, but I have no 4 jaw chuck, so my question conecrns what I need to look for in chucks for sale).

You would need to either get a chuck with an integrated thread of 1 1/2"x 8 tpi or a plain back chuck and make your own backing plate to suit or purchase a chuck that already has a backing plate attached to it.

According to the Hercus 9" lathe brochure, the spindle thread is 1 1/2 inch diameter, 8 threads per inch, USS standard.
I think the USS is 60 degree thread form.
