    Default Tapered Roller Spindle Bearings for the ATM260

    I've looked through all the threads to see if I can get the P/N's for the front spindle bearing for my ATM260 but can't find anything. I know the rear inner bearing race is a Timken 11162 (eyeballed that when I stripped the headstock down) and the outer, I think, is 11300B. But can't find any info on the forum for the front bearing which, on my machine is telling me some bad news (ie the screwdriver check almost sent me deaf). I e-mailed Hercus mid last week and haven't heard back so if anyone has the front bearing P/N (inner and outer race if different) would appreciate knowing what it/they are. I'm not looking for a precision bearing so standard production is just fine.

    Default 260 Bearings

    Timken: Front; 18690, Cup: 18620B
    Rear; 11162, Cup: 11300B
    The B indicates it has a flange (necessary to mount correctly)
    Hercus may still have some.

    Default Spindle bearing costs

    Just to finish the story, I've located replacement spindle bearings for both front and rear. For anyone interested;

    Rear cone and outer race was $140 excluding GST
    Front cone and outer race was 119 excluding GST

    All up, including GST was $285 rounded off.

    In neither case does this include the seals.

    Makes your eyes water .....

    Hercus finally got back to me and were asking about $370 including GST

    If anyone tells me they can be bought much cheaper, they will be responsible for a suicide.
