I thought it time I started a thread on the restoration of this little Hercus, VB675.

First off a bit of history/back story.

The lathe was owned by my wife's grandfather (Lionel) who passed about 20 years ago. Lionel was a Fitter and Turner by trade and a teacher at what would have then been the technical college. From what we can work out he bought the lathe from another teacher in the sixties, it was already painted apple green at that point.
Lionel used the lathe in his shed at home for making all sorts of things including doll house furniture. A couple of years ago my wifes uncle asked if I'd like the lathe as I too am a Fitter and Turner.

We finally managed to make the trip to collect it a little while ago. I disassembled it so I could get it in the ute, everything came apart quite well! The lathe looks to be in fairly good condition, some surface rust etc but I'll know more as I get further into it..

Thanks to the kind and knowledgable folks on here I've been able to work out that it's an early 1943 C model. The original colour was dark navy/grey (I'd really love to see some photos of other lathes in this colour so I can match it as best I can!)
