Advice
I am looking for your opinion from scroll saw users. I have been woodworking for thirty years, mainly furniture and jewellery boxes. Lately I have been thinking about veneer marquetry & have some .6mm veneer.
I don't have a scroll saw yet and have been looking on the net . I just want to spend as little as possible initially to see if I enjoy it. The two options I seem to have are a new GIANTZ brand for $124.00 or a second hand JET JSS-16 ( Looks as new) for $100.00).
The jet I think is 180 w ,the Giantz is 120w .Leaning towards the Jet. Would appreciate your opinions.
Chris.

If you don't spend a reasonable amount of money you will be disappointed, the difference between cheap and somewhat expensive scroll saws is huge. I started with a cheap ryobi and was almost at the giving it away point when I invested in a Excalibur that was used extensively for a long time and was a pleasure compared to the cheap ryobi. You definitely need a quick release blade system at least and if you intend to cut anything over 19mm you need plenty of grunt to cut to the lines.
