Carbatec 400mm scroll saw pinless blade question
Hi all, I've been looking at the Carbatec 400mm scroll saw. Watching a few videos I came across this one by Wood Knight where he talks about the blade clamps that come with the saw being crap for pinless blades. However, I've watched it a few times and I don't get it. Hoping someone can help.
Basically he suggests that a pinless blade HAS to be setup using the little guides on top of the saw. But it looks like it might be possible to still just set it up the same way he does with the replacement blade clamps he demos. The key difference is that the replacement clamps are bolted to the saw, whereas the standard ones just "hang on the hooks" and so might be too fiddly to keep them in place will screwing in the blade?
The short answer would be just get the upgraded blade clamps. But they only seem to be available overseas and shipping is insane, not to mention Im reading that they tend to fail relatively quickly.
Anyway, looking for some clarity on if this carbatec saw is really a pain to use pinless blades on? If I did get the saw and wanted to use pinless blades, would I end up hating it if using the out of the box blade clamps?
Thanks

If you want to do a lot of scrolling you will get to hate a saw that takes both pinned and pinless blades.
Been there done that got rid of my cheap saw a d bought their ss-400c and happy now. They are dearer but you get what happy with.

Thanks. The ss-400c is a lot more expensive! Can't justify that.
Seems like in that low-end price range you either fork out for the upgraded blade clamps or just live with the annoyance.

ultimately you will op for the best machine you can afford,I have a cheap one and a not so cheap one and wouldn't be without the dearer one in a fit, the dear one is by far the better one for intricate work.
