    Default The Coonawarra

    I have just finished the fret work of the paddle boat "COONAWARRA" that paddles it's way along the Mighty Murray River. I have attached a photo of the work.

    The pattern has been taken from the book by Neil Scobie & Theo Kampers called "42 Scroll Patterns"

    I have looked at this pattern for a long time and thought it was to complicated but I became inspired a couple of weeks ago at the Kiama Scroll Show and saw all the very complicated and fine work on show there so here is my reasult. I must say that there was a lot of outstanding work at Kiama and there are a lot of very tallented people in Australia who produce what was there.

    My job has been worked in New Guinea Rose Wood. I was given some off cuts by a cabinet maker friend. The timber is realy outsanding to work with.

    Great work Red Gum. I like these type of pictures, and I have done a few dogs for dog owners. I love steam boats as well.

    Hi Redgum

    Love the boat. I'm particularly impressed with the way your background has been done. It really adds to the finished product, and brings the boat out really well.

    The contrast between the dark background and the lovely timber is very pleasing to the eye.

    Thanks for all the coments on my Coonawarra. Sorry I have been slow to respond but I have been away on a long holiday.

    I enjoyed doing this job and was inspired by others who have done very fine work. I found it wasn't as hard as I first thought it would be and I'm looking forward to doing another when I find a suitable partern.
