DeWalt from the USA
Ive been after a DeWalt DW788 scroll saw for a while (can't really justify the expense of the Hegner one I want to my wife )
There's one on eBay from the States... not being particularly electrically competent, if I buy a saw from the States, will it work OK here in Oz? I assume I'd need a plug adaptor, but is there anything else I need to be aware of?
Many thanks!

On the scroll saw the American machine will be 110V while Oz is 240V you can run a step down transformer (extra cost). Basically not worth the effort and possibly end up being dearer by the time you add in freight, transformer and the machines age.

John,
There are new Dewalt 788 scroll saws available in New Zealand from a guy in Tauranga (I think). They are 110 volt and run through a transformer. I do know of one customer who seems very happy with her purchase and I will send you a pm with an Email address for her.

By the time you have bought it and freighted it and added a transformer how much would it cost?
Cheers

There was one for sale at Glenfords at Strathpine near Brisbane a little while back and it was about $900 - looked to have been there for some time too. You could ring them on 07 320504177 - I don't know if they still have it.
I bought my DeWalt on ebay for near $450 from memory. Great saw - real smooth and user friendly - no vibration etc.
Goodluck.Cheers

I haven't been on this forum for a long time but am pleased to have been able to help Rip Cat. If anyone else is looking for a dewalt through NZ try www.i-tools.co.nz They are happy to freight to Aus. The saw is 120v but is supplied with a step down transformer which works well. I have had no problems with my saw and found them a great company to deal with.

There are a couple of Hegner "look alikes' available in Oz (new). Around $600 or maybe a little under.
