    Default Dremel sanding

Every now and again something new jumps out at me from the wood work. This time I picked up something some where on the computer so it's not my idea but it's worth sharing.

I have made a sander to fit on my dremel for doing fine sanding and removing burs off my work. It consists of about ten strips of very fine sand paper with a cloth back. These strips I cut to about 6 or 7 ml wide and about 50 ml long. I made a hole in them at the half way mark by using an old leather punch. They were then threaded onto a small bolt that would fit into a dremel collet. I threaded the sand paper in alternate face to back etc and put them on forming a circle. A nut was tightened to keep the thing firmly in place. I have run the dremel (cordless model) at it's slowest speed and started sanding. It has been very success in removing saw burs and has given a nice clean round over effect on my job.

There is nothing new about this type of sander. I have one with 180 grit sand paper and run it on my drill press. It is very successful but is a bit aggressive. The dremel set up is very controllable and gentle.

I've put drill bits into my dremel and wrapped adhesive velcro around them and then wrapped velcro backed sandpaper around that, works a treat for some tightish spots.
