Easy jig saw puzzle.
Being new to this scrolling game, I decided to make a "jig saw puzzle" for my 8 year old neice. I glued a photo of her to some 3mm MDF, sprayed it with some photo protector and cut it into pieces freehand. Then I remeasured the print, cut some 16 mm MDF and routed it out 3mm deep and splashed some linseed oil over the frame.
I was going to say that she wouldn't know how to put it together if I cut into interlocking pieces, but the truth is I don't feel confident enough to cut it like that yet !
I made one for her 5 year old brother last week and just cut it into bigger pieces because he would be able to do it.
Next one is for her 11 year old brother................... I'll have to make it a bit harder !

well done Mick this scrolling is addictive you'll enjoy the journey. We haven't taken to it like the USA but hopefully we will get there, if you are looking for stuff to cut you can't go wrong with Steve Good patterns all free or if you like australiana book is available from Helen and Ozzie of scroll saw fame.
