Free Scroll Saw Patterns - early 1900's
I was given this link today of some old scroll saw patterns someone had found, they date from the early 1900's
There are some nice designs amongst them, some may not be practical for today but they are still good to look at, especially when you think of the machines they used back then to make them.
There are even some model ships in there for some of the members who like doing those.
Anyway heres the link to the patterns, I have put some in my to-do list already

The instructions for the patterns can be found at the bottom of the page after the patterns.Brett

Good old Adobe photoshop will hopefully come to the rescue....
Thanks

Juvy, Don't you have Acrobat Reader 7.0 on your system? You can download it from the net. You can't resize the patterns in it but can open the pdf files thru it to take a gander at them...all pages at once in a pattern. Easier for viewing then Adobe Photo Shop is for it.
BTW Brett, Thanks for the link....Trying to figure out which ones to download....Big files for my dial up....

of course I have Adobe Reader..... but when I'm in a folder with lots of files you can't see a thumbnail from the adobe files.... so unless they are named right you won't know what's in them unless you open them first.
Don't know which version windows you use, but since ME I've gotten used to the thumbnails views... I can see at a glance what's in my folders... well jpg, gif, bmp etc.. big help... quicker to scan pictures then read names, you can also see right away if there's anything double with different names.
Another thing I hate about pdf is that the Reader doesnt' get along with my comp...... never has with any of them ( maybe it's me? lol) likes to freeze up on me... so it's really a pain to use in my books.

When you could download the patterns, you could also select the pictures on the website and save them to your computer as jpegs with the same name as the pdf file. This will mean both the image and the pattern are saved alongside each other. You'll be able to view the jpegs quickly in the previewer.

Yes Gill, that would work most of the time, but sometimes I'm just in too much of a hurry or I forget to rename the pics. Wish they'd come up with a way to display a pic from within a pdf.
Still think they are a pain because you have to open them, then if you want a different size still save them in a different format and use a different program.... would be much easier to just leave them as jpg to begin with, but.... must be just me... seems most other people like pdf files.

thanks for the link Brett.........saved the files and am cutting out a pattern ..should finish it in the morning.
Dont see what all the fuss is about after all its a free d/l so I would think for that price the inconvenience of a pdf file is minimal.

Sprog's making fun of us Gill..... of course XP shows pdf as thumbnails.... thumbnails showing that it's a "pdf" file.. not showing what's inside.
Pete of course you're right... free is good... so we shouldn't gripe about pdf.... it's just that they've been a constant aggravation for me and I just had to make that remark that sparked the converstation about it.

ok Andrew, would you please tell the rest of us how to make XP show the content of pdf files in thumbnails? Sure would appreciate it, might start liking pdfs.
Coldamus, on my old computer the program froze just opening it, now on this one it freezes when Adobe wants to update... when the window pops up telling you that there is one waiting and asking you if you want to do it now or later... won't let me choose.. freezes every time and I have to reboot.

My computer shows the thumbs in their PDF folders.
I have the folder My Documents and in that I keep a folder called DESIGNS. I bring up the designs folder - right click - right click and select view - select thumbnails. Done.
Also, you may or may not know, - right click on the folder and make your choice of finding a file by what type it is ( a doc - pdf - jpg) or what date you collected it, or by name, which is the alphbetic order.

sorry Buzza, not working for me. All I still get is the old grey/red pdf folder picture just a bit bigger in thumbnail view.
Didn't know about the right click on folder to search .... thanks for that hint
