    Default Help with Excalibur EX21

I have recently purchased a Excalibur EX21 and I think I may have a problem with the machine. On a number of threads, I read that the upper arm swings up when either changing blades or re-theading internal cuts. My saw's upper arm does not lift. Is there an adjustment or setting I am missing? As others have stated, the supplied manual is of little use.

your first mistake was buying the thing

at the left hand side at the back just above an inspection plate you will find a screw with a nut on it loosen the nut and turn the screw out a small amount and lock the nut again
it works on a friction so it will get loos again as it wares a groove and the arm will full on its own so the adjustment must be maintained

let me know how you go

    Patch,

    Thanks for the info.
The adjustment you mentioned did not help initially, so I removed the cover held on with three black socket head screws. Discovered the screw nearest the main arm pivot bolt was too long, and was preventing the arm from moving anywhere. Added enough washers so the the screw did not protrude past the inside edge of the main frame; problem solved. Now the adjustment you advised helps, allowing the ball bearing detent to hold the arm up, and let it down as required.

    Thanks for letting me know.
Goes to show how good the quality control is
