Hi Guys. I joined the forum some weeks back and thought I would share a few things with you. I am from Wales in the UK. Most of the saws available here are crap from China. Even the excalibur is rubbish. I bought an ex 21 and had it 3 months, worst saw I ever worked on. I have a Dewalt 788 Mk1 and a Hegner multicut SE and very pleased with both my saws. As we all know when we get into scrolling there is a shed full of stuff we still need and over a period of time I have added things I need like band saw, sanders, drill press and a load of other stuff.

I have a dremel router table, which is tine with a decent dremel attached with a rounding over bit. With most things I make I round over the edges, which adds a really nice touch, especially to my best seller, which is a set of 3 penguins. Everything I make I sell at craft fairs and attend 2 each week. Quite recently I have been thinking of getting a small router table and router to add another dimension to the things I make on the scroll saw, things like plinths to mount things on is one thing with a nice moulded edge. I also want to use it to make boxes with nice comb and dove tail joints. I shall also be experimenting with polymer clay that will be put into cut outs, things like hearts and word art etc.

It has been quite difficult choosing the right set up as I am disabled and I would not be able to push the router up to adjust the cutter depth. I read a piece on this forum about a new router made by Makita and did a bit of searching and it is available here. Its the Makita RT0700CX2, its a palm router that comes with 3 bases so it can be used from trimming, bevelling and of course it has a plunge router base. What is so interesting with this router is that the depth can be adjusted with one hand and is a piece of cake to do which means I wont have to bend and get under the table. I also orderd a small compact router table with a cast iron table top that looks awesome. I also ordered a selection of router bits. It came to a lot of money but I know it will pay for iteself in a short time. It all comes on Tuesday and my only concern is that the router will fit the table. I am quite comfident although the router base is smaller than a normal router. When it is all set up I will try and post a photo of it all. I am on a UK forum and it is impossible for me to post photos so I am hoping I will be able to here. If anyone is interested in seeing my work I have a face book page called. Wooden crafts from Wales. Take care guys and enjoy your srolling.
