Mobile Cabinet for My Scroll Saw
My first time posting here, been mostly in the Band Saw Boxes.
Just getting into the scroll saw work, had spent the first part of the year in the hospital, doing ok now.
After getting back home a friend gave me a scroll saw, I've never used one before and was thinking of purchasing one. Nice gift. I am in a wheelchair and need everything mobile, plus a tight work space.
I've read thru the postings here and noticed recently that some members also needed a stand / mobile cart. Well I just finished recycling an old bedside table to make a mobile cart for it,, and even has some drawer space for 'anything'.
My height needs were for me to be able to access it from my chair, seat at 20", or my stool at 24". I removed 6" / 7" from the bottom, built a simple 2x3 frame around 2 sides and the back, attached a 5/8" plywood bottom and 4 - 2 1/2" swivel casters, 2 with locks. A few modifications to the inside of the drawers and voom! Mounted the scroll saw on the diagonal gave me good access to unit. I've run it several times just testing (never used one before) and virtually no vibration.
And very inexpensive. It was headed for a garage sale or the dump. All of my units are mobile, except for my planer.

Well done, Glenn. Hope you enjoy the scroll-saw work.
I am in something of a similar situation and find it very relaxing and satisfying.
With your skills all will come to you quickly.
