Thanks, Brett
did have a look at the magazine today, but decided not to buy it.. got the scroll saw and craft one instead. There just wasn't anything in the toy one this time that I'd make. Even the Scroll Saw one was a little of a disappointment.... same old same old ornaments
Finally figured out why the Delta is so much more expensive here... send my x-mas parcel to the US today.... carrying it around I'd figure it's a little lighter then the Delta... cost me $115 bucks!!!!!!!! I miss economy air!!!!

Try Carbatec
http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ind...=180_440_19338
Picked up the WMS today, pretty sweet looking machine. The heavy duty hold down foot will have to go tho . Only 2 speed saw, but had a quick go on both speeds and they are both workable speeds, and the saw is fairly quiet and vibration on the top speed. Will give it a better run on the weekend.Brett

As far as I know Carbatec is the only one importing the Delta... or does anyone know of any other company ?
Brett.... can't believe you got that Hegner look alike... you left us Delta users behind? sniff....
I do like my variable speed, not sure I'd want to give that up.
Let me know how you go with that.

Newbie
Hi all I have just joined and would like some guidance as to where I can get some basic info on what blades are best for what type of solid wood / ply / thichness for speed etc..
My main hobby / obsession is building RC model aircraft and obtained a Dremel in the late 1960's. It still works but its getting to the stage that to keep up with the vibration I need to be on a Pogo stick hooked up to a paint shacker.
I am a clock collector and for some time now I have wanted to start making wood clocks.
From what I read the Delta from carbatec would be a good purchase but without the basics of scrolling any $100 saw to a $1500 Hegner would be a waste of darn good machinery.
Anybody close to Ipswich QLD with a Delta that I can come and see operating.
Cheers Geoff

Geoff
There are a few groups around Brisbane that have scrollers in them, there is a good club up at Redcliffe and I believe there is a group down the south of Brisbane too. I will try and find the details for you if interested.Brett

Forgive my lack of geographical knowledge of QLD, I hope this is near you.
There is a club southish in Brisbane, called the Bayside Woodturners & Woodcrafters. They have a scrollsaw group there. Find more details on them here http://www.geocities.com/baysidewoodturners/
Tell Milton Ludlow and Ron Sivyer that Brett Miller sent you (if you want a better reception you might want to skip that part )
Anyway I hope that helps, theres another mob at Redcliffe, but that might be out of the way for you.

Great stuff oges
The scrollers group meet on 4th Fri morning of the month so the timing was good.
They have wood suppliers linked too their site and offer a free 6 week tutorial for beginners "me".
Its a 1 1/2hr drive but should be worth it.
Cheers
