    Cool Playing with blades

    Hi all

Have recently been having a play with a collection of different FD and Pegas scroll saw blades from Helen Harris and thought I would show you some of the stuff.

The scrollsaw was my heggie look-alike discussed here a while back.

I am waiting for my Excalibur to arrive - had hoped to play over weekend but no - so I bought a heap of blades to play with in the meantime.

I mainly make toys, crafty type stuff, spinning wheels and puzzles as well as do some commission work but felt too embarrassed to post here because of the high quality of some of you scrollers.

Anyhoo, here is some of the stuff mainly from scrap pine, meranti, ply and whatever I had.

Hopefully I can spend a bit more time actually contributing instead of just lurking.

    Regards

    Doc

Absolutely love them!! The fantasy creatures are fabbo. Would you normally finish them with something - oil or lacquer? They look still raw (but nicely sanded) to my hazy eyes.

Those kinds of puzzles are the reason I got a [embarrassing brand name withheld] scrollsaw (still boxed after more than a week due to being busy busy busy). Can't wait to get stuck into it even more now.

    Cool

    Thanks for the comments, fellas.

The stuff is usually finished in several different ways. I will often sand/steel wool the wood/ply smooth and stain (if required) then put a couple of coats of Danish oil on.

    Sometimes I use shellac.

Cut the puzzle or whatever and finish with another coat of oil.

I find that the blades are so good that I do not have to sand between pieces at all. Saves time and effort.

Most of these, shown, (all, in fact) were not finished or pre-finished (or should that be post-started?) because I just wanted to try out the blades on bits from the 'projects-in-waiting' box.

    Regards
