Proxxon DSH
Like every one there has to be a first posting, and this is mine.
I have the Proxxon DSH. It is a few years old ( maybe 9 or 10) and only takes the pinned blades.
My model has the tensioning knob under the back end, near the dust collecting tube, if this helps.
I wanted to convert it to pinless blades so that I could do portraits and purchased the adapters to do so.
They are the most useless things I have ever seen. They are made from solid castings with an allenscrew to secure the blades.
The problem is that the casting is so solid that the allenscrews will not close the gap up enough to tighten the blade. I have stripped one allenscrew just trying to do so.
Does any one know of an adapter that may fit this model of Proxxon.

Hi Gary,
What does your adapter look like, is it similar to the one sold by Timbecon only I seem to have solved a problem with my blade clamps - at least they work for me.

p.s. Anyway I'll attach a drawing (if it can be called such) of what I did.

Hey Gary,
My holders came from WMS and look similar to Bobs. I will probably try what Bob has done and see how that goes but if ur not into cutting them i went down to mitre ten and bought some small bolts (6mm i think they were, i will check when i get home) and now use a small rachet for the hex head. By the looks of it Bobs solution would be the better option, i will be giving it a go. Hope it helps. And thanks Bob.

Thank you Bob and Mark, mine does look similar to it, but no top plate was supplied with the ones that I purchased from MTS in Sydney, I do not know if it is standard with them or not..
Looking at the addaptors I believe that it should be, for when it is secured with the allenscrews they pull down onto the top making it harder to tighten the blade.
It is increadable that there isn't a ligher and more user friendly one available for our scroll saws.
Bob it must take ages to change blades even with your mod.
I have included a picture of the ones that I have, for your perusal and to see if it is the same as you both have.
Cheers Garry

Hi Gary,
Your clamp is very similar, probably the same as the one I use. The 'top plate' you refer to, the chrome bit, didn't come with the adapter but was with my saw when I purchased it, I understand that the 'top plate' is in fact a safety device when using pinned blades should they break - you can imagine that there is a possiblity that any broken top part of a blade, being then loose, might fly upwards - this wouldn't happen with broken non-pinned as they would still be retained by the clamp.
No I don't find that changing blades is much of a problem and certainly when doing internal cuts, like in portraits, it's only the top clamp that is involved anyway. BUT you get what you pay for (generally!) and my Sherwood is a cheaper model, I do have another couple of saws - seem to collect them - that have what they call 'quick change' clamps, which are exactly that, but then I paid more.
Hope it helps.
Bob H.
