Well, I suppose by default it is, but it's a pretty poor choice if you're looking for something that is easy to learn and difficult to misinterpret

Mr. Florence, my Headmaster, tried to talk me into doing French instead of Tech Drawing. I'd been bottom of the class in French & by the time I got to grade 10, I took out the school prize for Tech Drawing.
Sometimes they don't know what they are on about.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I had the option of French or Accounting. Headmaster strongly recommended French on the basis that the accounting covered in 5 years would be re-cycled in the first 6 weeks of Accy 101. He was right.... I did French for a couple of years and it was useful when I got posted to Paris.
Friday-26th -of course. Big day. Yer'll all be basking in the sun drinking beers then?

problem with all the languages is that they change.... guess Latin would be good as it's considered a "dead" language.... the "life" ones spoken today necessarly have to change with new inventions and life styles. I grew up in Germany, lived there until I was 21.... talking to a young person there makes me feel like an alien, peppered with expressions I had never heard, specially when it comes to anything to do with computers.
Learning another language in school a couple of years gives you a good basic but in order to really understand it you have to keep up with it, keep watching the news in that language, read books and magazines, TALK the language. Too easy to fall back on english because we mistakenly believe everyone understands it now.
It IS a hard language to learn.... too many things are spelled the same, but pronounced different depending on what contex they are used, too many are inconsistent. I made so many mistakes in the beginning I hated talking in front of strangers.... I still make many mistakes , but now I think of them as conversation pieces.... something to have a chuckle about.... like my invention of the pronounciation of enamel paint.... it turned into " animal" paint and is still used by some people in TX, Indiana and Alaska! lol
I've attached a little poem showing how difficult english is
Made me laugh and think at the same time
