Yep, Red Gum is one of the hardest. There are much softer Aussie hardwoods. 19mm is pretty thick for such a hard timber, too. A blade with about 5 TPI would be best suited, in my opinion. (3.7 teeth in the material at any one time.)

Play with the speed setting a bit, too. You might need to slow the blade speed if you see any surface burning on the cuts.

Good luck, and let us know how you go.

Sorry had trouble getting in to reply to this

Your right Steve they are the type I am using I got mine through Helen Harris see attached PDF link for contact details (prices are old I am sure) talk to Helen she is brilliant. I explained on my first buy of a selection of materials I would be cutting work I possibly would do and I ordered and will again. They sell in packs of 12 so you'll have spares.

The Pinless holders mount in place permanently I will warn tho the grubscrews to tighten the blades in can be ARPI but at least you often do not require removing the lower holder.

I just found this it might be of hep to some.

I've attached a guide to Helen Harris' range. The pinned blades are highlighted in grey, the rest are all pinless. I've had this for about a year, so prices might be a bit different.

Also a guide to the various blades and their uses.

thank you all for that helpfulhinfo - i will have a look into that and certainly chase Helen up about this. Does installing the clamps affect the ability to use pinned blades at all or do they stay out the way???.

I'm not sure, but going by the description, you can put either type into the clamps. That's also how the clamps work on my Jet:
