I'm looking to buy a second hand quality scroll saw ----- my budget is around $400 - $500
this will be my first scroll saw ----- but have some projects requiring high quality cutting
or can anyone suggest a brand of saw that would suit to buy new in my price range
thanks for your help

G’day Doug.
I got an older secondhand Hegner for $400.
You could check out the Australian Scrollsaw website.

+1 on the Hegner. I picked up an older Hegner a couple of months ago locally for $200. It needed $80 worth of parts to bring it up to spec, and an extra $100 on a quick release that I wanted rather than needed, but parts are readily available. Good hunting!

Gday Crowie
I'm interested in your Hegner where are you located and does your machine need any work to bring it up to specs.
I note the comments of Bumper about his purchase of his Hegner and what he did to upgrade his purchase and was wondering if this was applicable to your machine.
look forward to your comments and response.
thanks Doug

G’day Doug.
My Hegner came from an older gent from a Perth Scrollsaw Club but I forget how I got onto him.

It came with a foot switch; I replaced the rear spring, oiled the pivot points and upgraded the blade holders.
I think the blade holders came from Helen Harris when I bought blades.
I mounted it on 16mm ply with carpet tile sandwich and added a LED light.
Cheers crowie
