Thread: Scroll saw at Deal Direct

As I cant see a pic of it but think its probably another chinese knock off as long as it can use pinless blades it would be worth trying. As to fretwork(scrolling is the US word for it)a coping saw is not a good option. See if you can find a fretsaw as it has a larger frame and is designed to use finer blades.
I started with a fretsaw frame many years ago and still use it on odd occasions

Thanks Pete. Actually, I'm wanting to just cut little shapes out of timber - like simple birds, ducks, etc - for children's toys. No fretwork.

This saw takes pinned blades, which restricts the size of holes that can be cut. As long as you do not expect too much from the saw I see no reason why it will not perform the task you specify, the price is certainly cheap enough to give it a go.

I'm with sprog.. for what you want to do the saw should be fine.
I had a cheap saw that cut beautiful ... great for things like puzzles for kids too... anything that doesn't need tiny entry holes.
If you later decide you want to do more... then it's still a great saw to hand down to kids. I had 6 year olds on it!

I have only been scrolling for a few months, I did look at anumber of scroll saws at the last Brisbane WW show, there were a few there. I was looking for a Delta because you can use very small Pinnless blades 3/0, and they have a quick releaes for frett work.I managed to get a good s/h one. If you are intending not to do the frett work, and use pinned blades only, I would lokk to spend a few more dollars and try for carbo tech or Deco Flex
