its on the more expensive side of things but I've picked up a Festool 36L vac. Have had a variety of vacs over the years but i wanted one to use with all or most of my power tools and had the cyclone separator (doesn't come with the vac) so I'm not churning through bags and just empty a plastic tub instead. So far it covers all my sanding, cutting, domino uses really well. performs great and is integrated so when the tool powers on the vac turns on at the same time which saves trips back and forth.

    Hope that helps

    Cheers,
    Nathan

I have had the Festool CT26 e for several years. It is quiet - most important - and has features such as variable speed and automatic on for power tools.

If you are using a separator, the size of the Festool machine is irrelevant - they all have the same motor and power. So get a small one - it will be cheaper.

Go for a decent quality one with at least M class filtration if you can. Cheaper ones tend to be noisier and if you're in an apartment I doubt your neighbours like noise much.

    I use the 42L makita VC4210M.

I would try to hear one running before buying. Some are real screamers.
