Default simple but effective - x-mas

Just finished a x-mas tealight holder. The pattern comes from
    Aschis Workshop

I changed it just a little for take advantage of what a scroll saw can do... instead of gluing on the bottom of the trees and candle holder I tilted the table and pushed the wood up..... also saves wood!
Here are photos of the original , the way they are meant to be ( it's a 3 in one pattern)
and then what I did..... I added a little "Wurzel" little old man who lives in the woods.... from my collection just because ...... because I could? lol

    You're right...... it didn't work..... it's fixed now .......
just in case tho... here it is again
    Aschi's Workshop

I know it's a simple pattern, but I was thinking it would be really good for beginners, or for shop classes in schools..... I'd have even tried that back when I had cub scouts!

Very nice, Juvy. And a nifty trick with the relief cut, both to save wood and to assure alignment. Makes perfect sense, now that you've shown the way.

Years back I saw a similar pine tree cut out like that from wood about 12mm thick. Then the scroller had cut out more from that tree by following the pattern inside the outline, and continued on like that. Eventually, it turned out that the ever decreasing smaller trees could be slid out in a telescopic way, forming a forest of pines.

    Yours is very nice Juvy.

Relief work can really make a project stand out..... a lot of patterns can be changed to do this. For the forrest you described .... if you leave the table square it will come out like a puzzle ... if you tilt the table they'll push out partly and make a nice 3D tree..... you only need to make three cuts..... outside.... and two inside.

Here are a couple of photos to show to those of you who haven't seen this kind of work before. To get parts of a picture to come forward and other parts to go back you have to either tilt the table in different directions ( my Delta only tilts one way) or start the cut going either left of right...... have a little trouble remembering which way and natuarlly did it the wrong way a few times.... interesting results! lol
I'm inlucing a photo from the bottom of the nativity to show the how the pieces push in and out.

The inside of the stable is pushed back and then the surrounding "halo" baby is pushed back again.... everything else comes forward in different degrees

I'm sorry Wolfie..... but as I said it "will be" on his site. Since he's not a scroller he let me have a go at it first. I've already been after him.... he promised to hurry it up... has to make it into a pdf first.... but it WILL be there.... Promise!
